Whether you go for a fun toboggan ride on the numerous toboggan runs in the area or try out a snowshoe walk with a National Park Ranger, gentle winter sports activities will bring a breeze of natural adventure to your holiday.

Tobogganing

With the wind in your face and snow as far as your eyes can see, this is winter holiday fun at its purist. Cosy mountain hut restaurants give you the chance to warm up for or warm up after your run. Enjoy the typical Pinzgau atmosphere and regional specialities.



The longest floodlit toboggan run in the world is located in the Wildkogelbahn Arena in Bramberg at the GROßVENEDIGER . A 20 minute drive or a short ride on the Pinzgau Local Railway will take you to the Smaragdbahn (Emerald Run) in Bramberg Wildkogel. The start lies at an altitude of 2,200m, the altitude drop is 800m, the run is 14 km long and takes about 40 minutes.

Those who have experienced the magic of a snowy winter walks off the beaten track through the stunning landscapes of the Counties of Salzburg and Tirol, know that snowshoeing in Austria is much more than trudging through the snow.

Cross-country skiing

As you glide over snow-covered fields and pastures you will experience this idyllic setting from a whole new perspective. Enjoy a "real" winter holiday while taking in the breathtaking views of the magnificent mountains of the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Kitzbühel Alps.

  • Mittersill Pass Thurn high altitude trail - driving time about 20 minutes - guaranteed snow with a total of 22 km - partially illuminated
  • Kaprun Zell am See - driving time about 15 minutes - several flood-lit trails with snow making facilities like the Tauern SPA 2.8 km, the 6 km long Kaprun Castle trail or the high altitude trail on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier at 2800m above sea level
  • Hochkrimml Gerlos - driving time about 40 minutes
  • Hochfilzen in Tyrol - driving time about 40 minutes
  • Matrei in East Tyrol - driving time about 40 minutes
