Krimml Waterfalls
With a vertical fall of 380 m the Krimml Waterfalls are the highest in Central Europe. The falls were put under protection by the Council of Europe in 1967 and are one of Austria's most important natural monuments. This amazing natural phenomenon is definitely worth visiting. An additional highlight, especially for children, which can be combined with a visit to the falls, is the "Wasserwunderwelt" (Wonderful World of Water exhibition) right next to the entrance to the Krimml Waterfalls.

Grossglockner High Alpine Road
The most famous Alpine road winds its way through the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park to Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner (3.798m) with its glacier, the Pasterze. The Alpine road is 48 kilometres long in total and has 36 hairpin bends. It covers an altitude difference of 2,504 m. As you can expect the views from the top are stunning.

Gipfelwelt 3000 "Summit World 3000" at the top of the Kitzsteinhorn Peak (Zell am See-Kaprun)
The mountain station of the Kitzsteinhorn Peak lies at an altitude of 3,029 metres above sea level and is not only the highest point in the County of Salzburg that is accessed by a cable car, it is home to the "Summit World 3000" - the ultimate Alpine center. Nestled on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park it provides magnificent views of the surrounding mountain panorama as well as a host of information about the Kitzsteinhorn and the Hohe Tauern.

Boat rides on Zell am See Lake

Hikers and day trippers can see the region from a totally new perspective. From the water the views of the Schmittenhöhe Peak, the snow covered mountains of the Hohe Tauern to the south and Limestone Alps to the west are magnificent.

Giant Ice Caves in Werfen
You can see the hole in the middle of the rock face which is the entrance to the caves from quite a distance. At 20 metres wide and 18 metres high it's hard to miss. The entire cave system has a total length of around 42 km and some sections are open to the public. At the entrance to the caves a miners' lamp lights the way. Once in the caves magnesium lights are used to illuminate the fascinating icy structures. During the summer months the average temperature inside the caves is around 0°C so you will need warm clothing and sturdy shoes.

Salt Mines & Celtic Village in Hallein/Dürrnberg
Journey into the fascinating underground world of the salt mines. An open miners train will take you into the depths of the mine. This is followed by a raft ride across the subterranean lake and fascinating stories about the history of mining and the "Man in Salt".

Mozart's Birth-house/ Mozart Sound & Film Museum
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived in Salzburg from 1773 to 1780 and in this time wrote most of his most significant works. The museum brings you closer to the life, times and music of Salzburg's most famous composer with sound and film.

Museum Golden Roof Innsbruck
The Golden Roof is undoubtedly Innsbruck's most famous landmark. The Late Gothic building with its alcove balcony is located in the heart of the Old Town. The roof of the balcony is was cladded in 2,657 fire gilded copper shingles. Six state rooms are open to the public and with the help of information boards and modern multimedia technology the museum offers a fascinating insight in to the times of Emperor Kaiser Maximilian I. An absolute highlight is the view of the Old Town from the "golden balcony".
